Instagram is a smartphone based social network, owed by Facebook and has a millennial age group demographic.

Oh and  millennials are the 13 to 25 age group but there are plenty outside that age group using Instagram as a marketing platform.

Like all social media platforms you need to build that good old Know Like and Trust with your audience.

With Instagram you can post your photo to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr and Foursquare all at the same time.

If you use Instagram for Marketing you cannot put click-able links in your posts, but you can put one in your Bio.

InstaQuote is App for your smart phone that allows you to post quotes on Instagram.

They look good and are easy to do, if you know the quote!

With InstaQuote you can also post to Facebook and Twitter directly so it is a great tool to use from your phone.

InstaQuote provides a range of standard backgrounds, or if you want you can load your own.

You can play with the colors, fonts and alignments so it will always look good.

As with most Apps there is a Free Version and a Pro paid for version.

Upgrade to the paid version unlocks more backgrounds and removes the Instaquote Ad on every image you produce.

Instagress is a great tool to help you grow your likes, comments and follows on Instagram.

It is a powerful tool that allows you to like and follow user and posts with certain keywords that relate to your niche.

You can also configure comments that the system will use when auto commenting.

But you do have to make sure you put enough comments of your own in there so Instagress doesn't sound like a bot!

The other important thing to remember when using a tool like this is not to go onto Instagram and do your own like, follows and comments while Instagress is doing the same.

  1. Which do you find the best tool to use, Andy? I am a very poor user of Instagram because I rarely look through other people’s ‘grams’. I post because I like to get certain images online via Instagram but I don’t promote myself or share and comment very much. And the bottom line reason for that is that I don’t see the attraction or the benefit. Pinterest is not the same beast, but with Rich Pins I have something that is giving value back to my own site. What’s your take on that?

  2. I haven’t got into Instagram at all but being Generation Jones I’m going to have to try the tools you suggest, especially InstaQuote as I’m a real fan of Picture Quotes.

Pinterest is a different matter. I’m very much into that but don’t visit often because I can spend far too much time in there.

  3. Andy,

Great post. Thank you for sharing these valuable apps. I have downloaded Instagram on my Gallaxy S4 phone but I have not yet attempted to use it. I agree with Sue Bride about Pinterest. I have created many boards and as David Bennett said many of the pins are providing value back to my own sites. I look forward to watching your training – in a few days (the next 4 days are tied up in a continuing education course)/

  4. I have an account on Instagram and I posted a couple of pics, but I don’t like that it’s phone-based only. I suppose I didn’t really give it enough of a chance and I might try again (although I focus on other social networks). These tools sound great for when I try again :).

  5. Hi Andy,
Thank you so much for these tips on how to help on Instagram. I’m still learning how to follow and/or find people. I have Instagram on my laptop, my tablet and my iPhone but still not sure of what I’m doing.

I will keep at it though and check these apps out.

Right now, I am collecting some friends, posting about once a day and trying to figure out the above programs to use.
Thanks so much for your help with this…

  7. I have to admit, I only use Intagram casually, and not for marketing. I haven’t honestly thought about using it to market because a lot of my traffic comes from Google search, Twitter, Facebook, and WordPress.org. However, I’ll have to check out these tools and keep them in mind when I decide to try marketing on Instagram.

  8. You presented several great tools here and I have or have used all of them before. Instagress is an amazing program if you are looking to get your name out there and build a specific following. I believe that I did the 3 day free version of it and got an additional 300 followers! I am sure if someone used the tools you mentioned and attended the free training, then they could do very well on Instagram with their business. Thank your for sharing!

  9. Thank you so much Andy!

I’ll definitely learning my around social media a little better these days, because of what I’m constantly learning from you!

While all these resources seem extremely practical, for some strange reason it’s # 5, Iconosquare and it’s many features that has really piqued my interest the most!

Thanks, I’ll definitely have to check it out further!
