Happy Thanksgiving to one and all and I hope you all had a wonderful day.
Did you know it was Abraham Lincoln who decreed that Thanksgiving would be celebrated on the last Thursday of November? He only did that because he was what you might call “lobbied” by Sarah Josepha Hale who was the author of “Mary had a Little Lamb!” So that is how Thanksgiving Day came to be celebrated on the last Thursday of November.
Thanksgiving and Black Friday
Black Friday’s name originated in Philadelphia, where it was originally used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. It was not until 1975 that it become more general usage.
Remember you don’t have to go to the store tonight, Black Friday seems to be Black Thursday evening now anyway. There are people much less fortunate on Thanksgiving than most. Become a Happiness Ambassador and join the live happy movement and share a random act of kindness this holiday weekend.
