MediaIn the report done by the Social Media Examiner back in May 2013 there was some very interesting information on the use of social media, regardless of the size of your company it is well worth studying to focus your efforts for maximum returns.

Some  interesting facts came out of the interviews with marketers carried out by Social Media Examiner:

  • 69% of marketers plan to increase their use of You Tube
  • 62% of marketers want to learn more about blogging
  • Facebook and LinkedIn are the two most important social networks being considered

Surprisingly, 23% of marketers interviewed have been using social media for less than 12 months and 30% for between 1-2 years. So in all 53% of marketers have been using Social Media for less than 2 years.  Along with the level of experience comes the hours spent on Social Media Marketing, people who have less than 12 months experience with social media are spending 5 hours or less per week and those with more than 2 years are spending 6 hours or more.

Top Social Media Sites like Facebook and LinkedIn continue to be dominate but there is a big difference between Business 2 Consumer compared to Business 2 Business. In the Business 2 Consumer market Facebook is the dominate platform.  In the Business 2 Business world LinkedIn takes the top spot pushing Facebook into second place, but the two combined are less than the Facebook segment in Business 2 Consumer with 67%.

Blogging is much more important in the B2B space than in the B2C space.  So if you are a business and are selling to other business you need to focus on Facebook, LinkedIn and Blogging. You need to be aware of the importance of video to your business regardless of he platform being used.
